Haywire sways a bit from the exertion of channeling the massive ball of electricity. She winces and manages a grin, not wanting her new comrades to sense the temporary weakness.

"We're in the right spot. Just a klick ahead or so, though we'll need to find an access hatch."

The motley trio collect at the precipice of the lobby, leaning against a skeletal framework of steel that would have held an array of glass at one point. A flicker of movement betrays the Legion squad's movement into the elevator foyer. The air is tense--pregnant with the explosive violence that is sure to shortly commence.

Val peers over a broken planter at the backs of the Legion squad, trying to suppress the anxiety that claws at the surface of his professionalism. He sinks back behind cover and glances to where Max, and presumably Tyros, are crouched.

"Take them now?" he whispers. "We're a bit exposed to the street here, but surprise is ours. Besides, if they get to where they're going and meet up with another squad we're as good as fragged, and so is our objective."

The elf responds with a small, curt nod. Sweat beads on his brow and makes a smear of the grime he's picked up slinking through the bombed-out streets. The fingers on his left hand drum against Marlowe Mk. II's under-barrel. Max peers out from behind cover and narrows his eyes at the Legion squad, zeroing in on the hermetic. Max withdraws his left hand from the safety of his weapon and gestures a slow three-count with his gloved digits. His ring finger extended, his left hand draws back to the shotgun in a flash and the elf juts quickly out from behind cover, firing a burst of lead at the hermetic.

"We'll have to keep our eyes peeled, then," he says. "What are we expecting to find down there?"

Sinjin steps down the roadway determinedly, moving along a shadowed wall here, ducking low beside a derelict van there, running in short, speedy bursts before pausing under cover just long enough to signal an advance. Supranatural senses and concrete instincts guide him from point to point through the sleeping warzone, conscious of Bravo's vulnerability to sniper fire as they maneuver down the avenue. Relying on his discreet presence and keen perception, he hopes to traverse the craggy urban neighborhood as the units eyes and ears, providing advanced warning of any combatants before they in turn are alerted to the skulking trio. Every few dozen meters or so, his eyes scan the street level for the signage marking access to the tunnels entrance.

A brief quiver of doubt, instantaneously repressed, shivers through him as he considers the Legion squad in the team's sights. Their last encounter with the Legion left them well bloodied and with a healthy respect for a squad's combat capabilites. The bruising that FSRS took in that fight was with its team at full strength - how will they fare with half the team missing?

Seeing Max ready the latest reincarnation of Marlowe, Tyros' combat reflexes kick in automatically. Fanning to the flank, claymore at the ready, one hand comes up preparing to cast or counterspell as the subtle undulations of mana prickle at the mage's heightened senses.

Doc's eyes roam the cemetery grey of the wall, scrutinizing the semi-porous surface for a catch or inundation which would signal a means of entry. The team's medic still feels the reverberations of his heartbeat against his sternum. The battle with the Legion armor had been exhilarating, well-executed--but also very lucky. Chance is a fickle mistress. He swallows dryly and tries to quell a whisper of dread that taunts him from the depths of his subconscious. A quick glance over his shoulder confirms that Haywire and Sinjin are now out of sight, patrolling their own sections of the wall for a way inside.

The faintest of noises attracts Doc's attention and he cranes his neck up.

A pair of silver orbs--about the size of his Phalanx helmet--are racing down the sector wall, propelling themselves with the aid of a dozen tiny mechanical insectoid legs.

Adams curses inside his helmet, and ducks behind a nearby abandoned car. He sends a command to the FRSR Arachnae drones to move to his position.

< Incoming 'bots > He comms.

From his partially covered vantage point, he scrutinizes the drones, hoping they haven't spotted him yet, dredging his memory for any clues as to their type and function, and also which faction would be operating them.

Doc immediately recognizes the drones as Renraku X5 hunter-killer drones. Generally deployed during guerilla combat in urban environments, these drones can transform into a sphere to traverse any type of terrain quickly. If memory serves, each drone is equipped with a series of bladed-appendages coated with a toxin as well as a pneumatic firearm loaded with darts. As for who deployed the drones, he can't be certain.

Recoiling in surprised horror as the mob of flesh-hungry robots descend the wall, Sinjin takes a step backward and, eyeing their progress, times a roundhouse kick aimed at the closest robo-carapace.

Locked
