[ Interstate Overpass, Seattle ]
Doctor Takahara stands in the protective shade of the overpass. He bows formally to the assembled Firestarter employees.
"Arigato gozaimashita. I could not have escaped from Mitsuhama's employ without your help. As promised, I've transferred half a million nuyen to your corporate account. I must hurry now... my new employer has paid for a very extensive facial reconstruction procedure. I do not think that we shall meet again, but I will send business your way if I can."
Contract #3: I, Robot?
Re: Contract #3: I, Robot?
Max crosses his arms and says to Takahara,
"Doctor, due to the difficulty of the job-- not to mention how many of us caught bullets on it-- I feel like an increased fee is appropriate. I'm not threatening you, but I feel like 750,000 is fair. I have a feeling your new employer can afford it."

Re: Contract #3: I, Robot?
"My sincere apologies, Mr. Oversteet. That is every last nuyen I've earned from Mitsuhama. Had I more to give, I would."
Re: Contract #3: I, Robot?
Max nods in understanding, and says,
"In that case, I'd say we'll see you around-- but with a fancy new face I don't think we will. Take care, Dr. Takahara. Maybe try keeping your research out of the hands of crazy assholes this time."
The elf extends his arm for a good-natured handshake. After shaking Takahara's hand, Max turns back to the team and says,
"I don't know about you boys, but I could use a shower, a drink, and about four days' sleep."

Adams tilts his head politely to the scientist.
"Best of luck in your new life, Dr. Takahara."
There's a pause as he considers his singed jacket.
"And try to stay away from the environmental controls at your next job, okay?" He manages a weak grin.

As the car ferrying Doctor Takahara to his next employer pulls out on to the road, the team can't help but feel a sense of progress--as if this run was a milestone. If that's the case, things are bound to get more difficult... and rewarding, from here on out.
